
Ever since Indian restaurants began opening in Britain, curries have been modified to suit local tastes. Some, such as Chicken Tikka Masala and Baltis, were invented here. Now there's another one, from Glasgow this time. Chasni has been described as 'Indian food for people who don't like Indian food'. It really is the blandest thing on the menu, but you'll love it.

Put the sauce base into a blender, add the mango chutney, tomato ketchup and mint sauce and whizz for about a minute until it's really smooth.
juice of 1 lemon
a pinch of salt
quarter tsp turmeric
2 boneless skinless chicken breasts
400 grams canned tomatoes
200 ml water, stock or coconut milk
1 medium onion
2 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp paprika
3 tbsp mango chutney
3 tbsp tomato ketchup
2 tbsp mint sauce
2 tbsp double cream
juice of 1 lime
a handful of fresh coriander / cilantro
